The story you tell yourself matters the most. Click here to learn about my journey navigating life in the U.S. as a burn survivor, undocumented immigrant, and an orphan.

Immigrant/Identity: Life at the Intersections

“In Immigrant/Identity: Life at the Intersections, undocumented Filipina filmmaker & journalist Kenzi Hilario brings to light the untold experiences of four Bay Area residents experiencing life at the intersections of identity, immigration, & injustice. This is Kiki's story.”

This project is presented by the City & County of San Francisco's Office of Civic Engagement & Immigrant Affairs and the Office of Transgender Initiatives.

During Immigrant Heritage Month and Pride Month, the SF Office of Civic Engagement and Immigrant Affairs and SF Office of Transgender Initiatives hosted a screening and panel discussion of the short documentary, “Immigrant/Identity". This event was created to build conversations about intersectionalities in immigration within the SF Bay Area community.

My self-reflection on healing, overcoming bullying, and body image issues.

There is of course a part of me that is still hurting, but not from the fire. I'm hurt by the fact that I didn't forgive myself and others earlier...but now I have learned to forgive completely. I'm ready to move on to my next journey in life.

A Vietnamese Burn Survivor’s Journey

“As I stroll down the street with my short sleeve blouse and my head held high, I use the light within me to empower others so they too can see their own beauty.”
